World Poker Tournament Coming to Hollywood, Florida

Casino gambling is not new to Florida, in fact, it has been around for quite a while, but there was always an unusual rule around poker. Just up until this summer (July first to be precise) an individual couldn’t play for more than $100. This means that the wagers were pretty restricted. It would not matter how well you performed, you simply weren’t going to make a substantial amount of money playing poker in Florida. These restrictions made the whole state absolutely unappealing to the big poker tournaments.

However in July the rules changed and now the World Poker Tournament is coming to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood Florida from April 27th to May 3rd. For anyone not really acquainted with South Florida, April is right before the weather gets really, hot. On the early part of Tourist season, a month away from Gay Days (which are in June), and safely far from Hurricane season. The World Poker Tour has a five-year agreement to include at least one tournament a year either at the Hard Rock in Tampa or the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida. Which means Hollywood may have a chance to see some of the big names in poker like Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth and Doyle Brunson playing in their back yard.
