Jill Martin, Family blogger for visitflorida.com recently spent a weekend in Hollywood and wrote a nice piece on her blog about the experience.
She mentions how the Hollywood Broadwalk is the highlight of Hollywood Beach. “It’s relaxing. It’s breezy. It’s scenic. It’s kid-friendly. It’s just fantastic. (It’s also great for people watching!)” says Jill. So much to do from biking, walking, roller-blading or just laying out in the sun. The Hollywood Broadwalk is truly unique. She also makes note of the spelling (BROADwalk not boardwalk).
Downtown Hollywood is just a $1.00 Trolley ride away and there is plenty to do for the whole family there also. She equates the experience to an area that feels like an old town MAIN STREET USA.
I think my favorite part of the day was when we all piled into a rented canopy bike and just pedaled down the Broadwalk. It was so nice to get away from electronics for the day and unwind the old fashioned way. We found a great place for lunch right on the Broadwalk, too. It’s called Vedu’s Fish and Burger Shack – you have to try it. It looks like a tiki hut and it overlooks the beach and the water – the fish tacos and lobster rolls were awesome. And that view!
Lots of family friendly accommodations around, from small mom and pop motels to larger hotel chains like the Marriott and Ramada.
