4th of July in Hollywood and South Florida

Check out some of the events and activities going on in and around Hollywood Florida this 4th of July

Hollywood: Independence Day weekend on Hollywood Beach will be featuring nightly musical performances at the Theatre (Johnson Street and Broadwalk) from 7:30-9 p.m. Caribbean Music Farm is scheduled to play July 1, upbeat jazz by Phil Fest & Friends on July 2 and classic rock and roll by White Noise on July 3. Then on July 4, country music group Rodeo Clowns will be followed by Galo’s tribute to Santana (6-10 p.m.).
Twenty minutes of fireworks will light up the sky over Atlantic Ocean at 9 p.m. Bridges will close for eastbound traffic from 8:00pm – 11:00pm. Park at a downtown parking garage and ride the free express bus to Hollywood Beach. Normal downtown parking rates apply.

4th of July on Hollywood Beach

Hallandale Beach: Kids will have a blast with a bounce house, arts and crafts, pony rides, music and balloon animals from 4-8 p.m. at Village at Gulfstream Park. Fireworks show is at 9 p.m. over Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino, 501 S. Federal Highway. 954-378-0900, thevillageatgulfstreampark.com

Pembroke Pines: Family activities start at 6 p.m. on the festival grounds and include free kids’ rides until 8:30 p.m. Wesley Philips Band is the musical entertainment. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs because fireworks show is at 9 p.m. Pines Recreation Center, 7400 Pines Blvd. 954-435-6525, ppines.com

Fort Lauderdale: Start the holiday with the centennial Wade-In 50th anniversary commemoration. This historic event led to the integration of Fort Lauderdale Beach. Celebration begins 9 a.m. at Eula Johnson house, 1100 NW Sixth Street, followed by a state historic marker unveiling 11 a.m. at A1A and Las Olas Boulevard. Call 954-828-4755 to reserve a seat on the free Sun Trolley. “Fourth of July Spectacular” on the beach will have live music and a DJ. Festivities take place from 12:30-9 p.m. and will feature family beach activities and contests. Lauderdale-by-the-Sea: Festivities kick off with the annual parade starting 10 a.m. on Bougainvillea Drive behind Town Hall. Post-parade fun begins at 12:30 p.m. on the beach in front of El Prado Park. The Volunteer Fire Department will feature truck, hose and sea rescue demos. There will also be a skim boarding demo and a children’s sand castle competition. Fireworks at Anglin’s pier shoot off at 9 p.m. 954-776-1000, lbts.com
